The Enneagram applied to business leadership: hiring, feedback, conflict, sales, team performance and decision-making. Business Enneagram Asia (BEA) uses the nine Enneagram types as a diagnostic depth layer for how leaders and teams actually work together, built for Asian workplaces in Malaysia, Singapore and China.
A model of human personality describing nine distinct ways of seeing the world. Each type carries its own strengths, blind spots, motivations, fears and emotional patterns. Where DISC describes behaviour and MBTI describes preference, the Enneagram goes to the why: the motivation underneath. Used well, it is a mirror, not a label.
An original communication map for leaders, created by Daniel Yeo and Simyee Lim at Business Enneagram Asia. It maps what happens when any two Enneagram types work together: 81 pairings across 18 dimensions of work, 1,458 specific insights into where two people click or predictably miss each other.
The patterns of how people actually work together: who hears "urgent" as a threat, who needs proof before trust, who goes quiet under pressure. BEA treats human dynamics as a business variable, as real as strategy or process, and X-Map makes them visible.
Type 1 The Reformer, Type 2 The Giver, Type 3 The Achiever, Type 4 The Individualist, Type 5 The Observer, Type 6 The Loyalist, Type 7 The Enthusiast, Type 8 The Challenger, Type 9 The Peacemaker. Each has a characteristic way of leading, deciding and handling stress.
The nine types group into three centres: Body (Types 8, 9, 1), Heart (Types 2, 3, 4) and Head (Types 5, 6, 7). Each centre shares a core emotional theme: anger, shame and fear respectively.
Three instincts shape how each type shows up: Self-Preservation (security and resources), Social (belonging and standing) and One-to-One (intensity and connection). Combined with the nine types, they give 27 subtypes.
Any two Enneagram types working together, such as a Type 8 founder and a Type 5 CTO. There are 45 distinct pairings (81 when direction matters: who leads whom). BEA publishes the chemistry of every pairing.
The ways of working X-Map reads for every pair: decision-making, giving feedback, receiving feedback, conflict approach, core motivator, under stress, how trust is built, leadership style, what they want from a leader, delegation style, meeting energy, buying speed, what makes commitment safe, how they object, role in a team, pace preference, disagreement style, and what drains them.
Simyee Lim's leadership transformation framework, used in BEA and FutureX advisory work to move a leader from self-awareness to changed behaviour.
Simyee Lim's framework of leadership maturity levels, used to read how far a leader has grown, alongside the Enneagram's picture of who they are.
The method that connects individual insight to organisational outcomes, so that self-awareness work shows up in hiring, team performance and results.
